Data Steward – Manufacturing
Join the team behind iconic Kimberly‑Clark brands and help us deliver better care for billions of people worldwide. As a Data Steward, you will use your expertise to manage key data domains, ensure data quality, and enable analytics across the organization.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the subject‑matter expert for designated data domains, including data sources, usage, and business value.
* Collaborate with key data users to develop business logic for IT to implement automated monitoring, catching data quality issues before they affect downstream processes.
* Advises stakeholders and develops materials to inform them about self‑service data availability.
* Advise on extracting data from relevant databases and platforms, and provide written and verbal guidance to Analytics Product Managers and Data Scientists.
* Own and maintain field‑level explanations for data sources, outlining how each field supports business questions.
* Partner with Product Managers, Centers of Excellence, and other teams to drive adoption of data sources across business areas.
* Understand the scope of contracted data/services, support renewal & RFP discussions, and communicate vendor updates organization‑wide.
* Manage data security access rules/controls, evaluating security risks relative to contractual, legal, and financial restrictions.
* Document data catalogues and align business definitions in a matrix organization to meet analytics platform metadata needs.
* Own and maintain data quality rules for the domain or analytics products, implementing rule/alert/messaging and monitoring health of the analytics environment.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
* 5+ years of experience as a Data Steward or in data governance/data management roles.
* Strong technical capability with large datasets (Big Data) to identify data issues and discuss data quality.
* Hands‑on experience with business glossary and metadata management, data quality rules and monitoring, data catalogs, and field‑level definitions.
* Solid understanding of database structures and data platforms.
* Ability to work primarily in a backend role (~70%) with limited but effective business interaction.
* Advanced English proficiency (required for global interaction).
* Strong collaboration skills with technical teams (IT, Analytics, Data Science).
* High attention to detail, structured mindset, and problem‑solving orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in Supply Chain domains such as Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, or Logistics.
* Previous exposure to consumer packaged goods (CPG) or highly matrixed global companies.
* Experience defining processes for data teams or governance frameworks.
* Familiarity with ERP / planning tools (e.g., S4, Kinaxis, WMS, TMS).
