Your mission
As Resident Senior Design Engineer – Doel in the Design Brussels Civil Works department of Metier ‘Civil Engineering & Infra’, part of the Business Area Gas, Energy and Nuclear, you will play a crucial role in a wide variety of civil engineering design activities.
You will be involved in full project life cycle from conceptual to execution design, including construction follow‑up, non‑conformance resolution and modification requests. You will also serve as the Brussels Design Team antenna at the Doel Nuclear Power Station, with a bespoke onboarding plan that may require weekly presence in Brussels.

Key Responsibilities
Design and verify structural design of civil engineering elements, including:
Performing structural analyses, including finite element modeling, Eurocodes, ASCE, ACI, USNRC (SRP and RG) and other relevant standards.
Conducting dynamic analyses of nuclear structures and components for hazards such as earthquakes, gas explosions, tornadoes and airplane crashes.
Interfacing with the drafting office and multidisciplinary teams.
Contributing to technical specifications and reviewing contractor documents (method statements, calculation notes, temporary measures).
Maintain design commitments in scope and schedule.
Mentor junior engineers and share expertise with the team.
Qualifications
Minimum 20 years of experience in structural analysis and design with a Civil Engineering degree.
Proficiency with general purpose finite element and structural codes (e.g., ANSYS, SCIA) for static and dynamic loads.
Hands‑on mentality for delivering quality designs within schedule.
Curiosity to learn nuclear safety, quality assurance and related structural challenges.
Knowledge of international codes and standards (Eurocodes, ASCE, ACI, USNRC SRP and RG).
Willingness to commit to a long‑term assignment in an industrial environment with rigorous checks and balances.
Who You Are
Scientific mind, rigor, and strong communication skills.
Proficient in Dutch, English, and French is plus.
Excellent technical writing abilities.
Experience in mentoring junior engineers.
