The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for shaping and delivering end-to-end data solutions, from pipeline design through to implementation. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, translating requirements into technical solutions, while also providing guidance to the wider team and promoting best practices.
The scope of work includes:
* Design, build, and support scalable ETL workflows using Talend, enabling efficient extraction, transformation, and loading of data from multiple source systems into a centralised data warehouse
* Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to capture data requirements and deliver integration solutions aligned with business goals
* Continuously refine and optimise existing ETL pipelines to improve performance, reliability, and scalability
* Develop and manage data pipelines supporting real-time or near-real-time processing, leveraging technologies such as Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms
* Design, implement, and maintain relational database structures with a focus on data quality, integrity, and security controls
* Carry out administration tasks for databases and Talend environments, including maintenance activities, patching, and version upgrades
* Proactively monitor data workflows, diagnose issues, and resolve incidents quickly to minimise operational impact
* Produce clear technical documentation and ensure effective knowledge sharing across the team
* Stay current with evolving trends, tools, and best practices within the data engineering and integration space
* Recommend and introduce new technologies or approaches to improve data management capabilities and processes
Experience & Qualifications
* Minimum of 7 years’ experience working with data technologies and engineering practices
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence stakeholders
* Experience working within Agile delivery environments
* Familiarity with energy markets and associated datasets is advantageous
* Proven ability to balance independent working with effective collaboration in team environments, even under competing priorities and deadlines
* Demonstrates a proactive, delivery-focused mindset with a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
* Comfortable working in an international and multicultural environment
