Ph3Doctoral scholarship holder in children’s literature studies /h3 pThe Department of Literature in the Faculty of Arts is looking for a bfull‑time (100%) doctoral scholarship holder in the field of children’s literature studies. /b /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liPrepare and defend a PhD dissertation on "Scenes of friendship in German and English children’s literature." The project will analyse how friendship is practiced in a selection of English and German children’s books using narrative analysis, close reading and discourse analysis. You will publish peer‑reviewed articles and deliver conference papers related to the research project. /li liCarry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the Department of Literature in the areas of English and German Literature. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liHold a Master’s degree in German and/or English Literature or an adjacent field relevant to the project, or obtain it by the time you start work. /li liPreferably have experience in studying children’s literature. /li liTeaching competences in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision. /li liAct with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation. /li liRead, write and speak English and German with high proficiency. /li liWork effectively in a team and balance independent and collaborative work. /li /ul h3Benefits /h3 ul liDoctoral scholarship for a period of two years, renewable once for another two-year period following a positive evaluation. /li liPlanned start date 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. /li liMonthly scholarship amount calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders. /li liAllowances: ecocheques, internet‑connectivity, bicycle allowance or full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting. /li liAccess to a wide range of courses and an educational credit through the Antwerp Doctoral School. /li liPlacement at the University of Antwerp’s city campus (Stadscampus) in a dynamic and stimulating working environment. /li /ul h3Equal Opportunities and Diversity /h3 pWe encourage people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse characteristics to apply.
