We are looking for a Senior Cloud-Native Platform Engineer to reinforce our team, which has more than two decades of experience in the satellite industry. You will contribute to the design, development, integration, and operation of the cloud-native orchestration, control, and operations layer for a next-generation 5G-NTN ground-segment platform. This spans the orchestration and control plane (service and lifecycle orchestration, MANO-style, and SDN / cloud-native control), the OSS layer (inventory, service state, telemetry, and KPI monitoring), and a BSS layer (catalog and order workflows) that together turn the platform into a Gateway-as-a-Service product.
You will be an integral part of an existing multidisciplinary team of experienced, friendly, and talented colleagues working across 5G, SatCom, DSP, virtualization, and system validation. The work includes operating a cloud-based integration environment, integrating and packaging containerized 5G network functions, designing the MANO workflows that onboard, start, stop, reconfigure and roll back network functions and gateway instances, building the OSS inventory and service state model exposed via northbound APIs, implementing telemetry collection and KPI computation, and delivering a minimal BSS layer (catalog, tenant/RBAC, order workflow) on top.
You will actively participate in a highly innovative project at the intersection of 5G, satellite communications, and cloud infrastructure, contributing to a real system demonstrator and not only to research studies. You will help shape future ground-segment products and next-generation 5G-NTN capabilities.
This is what you give
A BSc or MSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or in a related field.
You bring with you an experience of at least 5 years in such role.
You have hands-on experience operating production-grade Kubernetes at scale with Infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform) and packaging/deployment (e.g. Helm).
You have strong Linux fundamentals and a solid networking knowledge.
Experience with container-based delivery (Docker / OCI) and CI/CD pipelines.
You possess a solid grasp of cloud-native architecture - microservices, northbound API design, observability, security and declarative / GitOps-style operations.
You are proficient in at least one programming language. We do not filter on a specific language - we care that you are productive in a modern backend/systems language and willing to work in ours.
You know how to debug complex distributed systems and work across software, networking, and infrastructure domains.
You communicate easily and enjoy working closely with software developers, product managers, 5G specialists, and validation engineers.
You are a fast learner, eager for new concepts and not afraid to apply them when challenged.
You work independently but know when to ask for help.
You produce clean, readable, well-structured documentation in good English.
You preferably hold a work permit for Luxembourg.
These are strong assets:
Knowledge of ETSI NFV concepts - MANO, VNF/CNF lifecycle management, and OSS/BSS architecture.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native 5G/NTN orchestration, including open-source 5G stacks (OpenAirInterface, free5GC, Open5GS, OCUDU, Aether, ONAP) and familiarity with O-RAN/SMO components such as the Near-/Non-RT RIC and the O1/O2 interfaces (e.g. SD-RAN).
Experience with SDN and programmable data planes - SDN control planes such as µONOS / ONOS and SD-Fabric.
This is what you get:
An attractive salary and relocation package.
A comprehensive training plan, starting with onboarding, which caters to your development needs and helps you achieve your career goals.
A supportive environment where people come first.
Flexible and partly remote working options.
An opportunity to work in a challenging fast-paced environment with the latest technologies which affect the lives of billions of people around the globe.
Work-life balance which includes an exciting lifestyle in the heart of Europe, in the multicultural city of Luxembourg.
